A Pumpkin Picking We Shall Go

Sunday, my mom, sisters, Darren (my sister Becky's boyfriend), David, Bo, and I went to Kirby Farms to find pumpkins in their pumpkin patch. This year the adults had more fun than the baby, but next year will be another story. There were lots of fun things to do - it's a kids paradise!
Bo and I looking at the goats. He liked feeling the wooden fence better than the goats.
Bo did NOT want to look through the painted picture thing. He kept pushing away and whining.
Looking at a pumpkin and almost blending in.
Daddy and Bo on some hay bales. These two have the same eyebrows!
Bo trying the hay.
Nom nom nom
All of us looking - except for Bo of course.
Bo loves his grandma!
Such a cute couple. Can't believe my sister's dating Jude Law! Just kidding!
I found this cute stud hanging out by the truck. I might take him home with me. ;)
This was just funny.
In the corn maze.
In the field, claiming his pumpkin. Putting things in their mouths is how babies mark their territory.
"Yep, I like this one. But that one over there is nice too!"

Can you spot the baby?
How about now?
While we were having fun taking pictures, Bo was having fun trying out the dirt.
We had so much fun and I can't say enough how much I LOVE our camera. It takes such good pictures, is easy to use, and so easy to transfer to the computer. I might have to take a photography class at KCKCC to get the most out of it though.

Blue Eyed Boy

I did another spur of the moment photo shoot (that's all I do). Bo made the funniest faces and was in such a good mood that we took pictures until the light changed. There are so many fun crafts/hobbies that I'm interested in, it's hard to find time for all of them, but photography is definitely one I'd like to get better at. Hopefully when he turns 6 months old I can purposefully set up a photo shoot with actual outfits, backdrops, and props.

Without further ado - I give you "Blue Eyed Boy". Enjoy!

Chillin' on mom and dad's bed.

"Aren't I so cute?"
This is Bo's favorite new face - it's almost like fish lips.
Watchin' the fan.
Max looks so stately and alert and Bo looks like he is contemplating grabbing him!

5 Months Old!

I can not believe that Bo is already 5 months old! I've been trying to learn a little more about our camera and did an impromptu photo shoot for practice. Bo looked so darn cute I decided to post the pictures. Hopefully soon I can do a real photo shoot with a better background, but for now these work.

I Heart Pinterest!

I have a new love in my life, in the form of Pinterest. Yes, I know. I'm a little late jumping on the bandwagon. That's me with everything. A TON of people had to try to convince me to read the Twilight series before I finally did. Same thing with Pinterest. I had heard about it and many people told me I should join. I didn't really get it until I said, "What the heck, I'll see what it's all about," and finally checked it out. It took all of about two point five seconds of being on Pinterest to realize I had been missing out. Pinterest may be the single most awesome internet invention ever. Probably tied for first with Facebook and Twitter. I've only been a member to Pinterest for, oh, about three days and look at what I've already accomplished!

Not a very good picture, but yes, that is candy corn in there.

Also saw this on Pinterest and HAD to make it!

I collected some acorns from my parent's house, bought some fake fall leaves from Dollar Tree,  and paired it with the "stick thing" (it doesn't have a name) - all ideas from Pinterest.

The candle lit with the lights off. Ohhh ahhhh

I'm telling you right now I may become a Pinterest junky and need an intervention. You'll know I have a problem when I start "pinning" things in my dreams. Happy "pinning"!

Homemade Granola!

My mom and grandma used to make this yummy granola all the time when I was little. My mom just made some recently and since we eat granola regularly I thought it would be great if I made some. This recipe makes A LOT, but you can freeze it! I calculated the cost compared to even the cheapest store bought granola and it's less than half the price! Totally worth the time!
I used all Best Choice or Always Save to save a little money.
You'll need two large bowls or containers.
Separate dry ingredients equally and mix together.
Mix and bring wet ingredients to a boil.
Pour wet ingredients equally onto dry ingredients and mix well.
Put a thin layer of mixture on a cookie sheet with sides.
After baking in the oven for your choice of time (shorter for chewy, longer for crunchy) cool it on foil.
Repeat the baking process until you've cooked and cooled all mixture. It will take awhile! Put cooled granola into freezer bags. Make sure to put the date on the bags. The first bag doesn't have a date because we were going to eat it first!

Grandma's and Mom's Homemade Granola

In a saucepan, cook down
     3 cups brown sugar
     3/4 cup honey
     3 cups vegetable oil
     1 1/2 cups water
     1 Tablespoon cinnamon
Mix with 3 pounds old fashioned oats (NOT quick oats) plus nuts, dried fruit, ect.
Bake at 300 degrees (for at least 10 mins on each side - longer for more crispy) flip and cook until brown.

* Side note: Don't let the granola get too brown. I think I almost burnt a few batches. The best batch I did was the last one. I cooked it for 10-15 mins. on each side and then let it cool on the pan before I put it on the foil to finish cooling. I don't have two cookie sheets with sides or I would have done this for all batches.

Lots and lots and lots of pictures!

Bo has been growing and learning by leaps and bounds! I just get used to something he can do and then he's all of a sudden doing something brand new! He's hard to keep up with!
Bo getting ready to try avocado.
First bite down the hatch!
"I don't know if I like this."
"It's o.k. mom - let's try some more."
"Mmmmm"
"Nom nom nom"
"You're a good cook mom!"
I love the sequence of events that take place in these pictures.
Bo - "Come here dog!" Max - "Aaaggghhhh!"
Bo - "I just want to give you a kiss." Max - "No you don't!"
"You're right, I want to bite your ear!" (He didn't really, it just looks like it)
I love him in this outfit, but it makes him look too big! :'(
My handsome blue eyed boy.
And last but not least, I snuck this picture of how Bo currently likes to sleep - on his side, just like his mom.
